His love affair with sound began at age 12\, upon hearing The John Coltrane Quartet for the first time. Drums were his first instrument and led to performances with Peter Brotzmann\, Miho Hatori (Cibo Matto)\, Mary Halvorson\, Marc Ribot\, and Sophia Knapp. He has recorded with bands on the imprints of Dischord Records\, Southern Lord\, and Drag City.
