Today we have over 70 programs\, recorded and live\, across two studios\, as well as social justice projects that uplift underrepresented voices in the community through radio production and programming. Our mission inspires our listeners\, forging connections across our communities\, and building new music and ideas globally. We are celebrating this monumental birthday with a series of events and fundraisers\, beginning with 103.3 Asheville FM’s Annual Fall Fund Drive from Saturday\, October 26th – Friday\, November 1st\, and ending with the First Annual Asheville FM Record Fair and our 10th birthday party on November 2nd presented by New Belgium Brewing and Harvest Records. Our goal for Fall Fund Drive is to raise $35\,000 to continue to provide free-form\, listener-supported community radio in Asheville and beyond.

Thank you to Burial Beer Co. support. \nAbby the Spoon Lady is one of very few professional spoon players in the United States\, and has been a professional street performer for over a decade. Abby studied American folk percussion\, music\, and folklore while traveling the United States by foot and rail. Abby is a folk percussionist\, storyteller\, radio personality and free speech activist. She has a weekly radio show Busker Broadcast on 103.3 Asheville FM\, can be seen in several TV shows\, documentaries\, and even within horror films. \nChris Rodrigues is a singer\, songwriter\, multi-instrumentalist and busker from Asheville. Growing up learning traditional songs from his family\, he has carved out his own unique blues- Appalachian style. At age 23 Chris began busking and now tours and plays in a variety of festivals\, venues\, and as a street performer. He plays the resophonic guitar\, blows the harmonica\, stomps on a suitcase with his right foot\, taps on a license plate with his left foot and sings his takes on traditional songs as well as his own written material witch can be heard on several prime time television shows. \nTickets available at theorangepeel.net

DESCRIPTION:Join Green Opportunities on Saturday\, May 6\, 2017 from 6:00-9:00 pm for the Second Annual Soul Shakedown by the River! \n \nCome down to the Boathouse Pavilion at 318 Riverside Drive in Asheville’s River Arts District for a soul shakin’ party. Dance to the grooves of Asheville’s own Natural Born Leaders playing a mixture of funk\, soul\, reggae\, and hip hop. There is musical performances by some of Green Opportunities’ all-star alumni\, including GO Build members 18Bird (Eric Howell)\, Doug Dew (Doug Dewberry)\, Alpha Lee (Greg Lynch)\, and Siyah (Isa Whitaker). \nThe event will feature soul food favorites from Green Opportunities’ Southside Kitchen and Guest Chef Joe Scully of Chestnut and The Corner Kitchen.  \nTickets are $25 in advance\, $30 at the door and include entertainment\, food\, and two drinks (wine or beer). All proceeds benefit Green Opportunities’ work to build a strong\, inclusive workforce for Asheville by providing job training to adults facing employment barriers. \nGreen Opportunities would like to make the Soul Shakedown accessible for GO students and low-income community members\, so please consider sponsoring an inclusivity ticket. \nTicket page and more info here.
