As co-hosts of Run That Back (formerly Steve Sax Syndrome), a one-hour once-a-week sports talk radio show, we were fortunate enough to apply and be given a prime drive-time slot early on in Asheville FM’s existence. We have always known that our show is not typical programming for the progressive freeform music and community talk station. We have made it a point to do a show that belongs to the diversity of programming that Asheville FM delivers. like they say, as diverse as the community they serve. So instead of shouting about statistics and staging arguments about the greatest of all time, we try to focus on the stories behind sports, and when we can, we look to highlight the cross section between sports and our local community. We feel our interview from the September 27, 2023 episode with members of Blue Ridge Roller Derby is a perfect example of that as they talk about finding inclusion and empowerment by participating in a sport that provides opportunities to all types of athletes and levels of experience. We hope you agree.
