The Civic Roundup for September 13, 2023 has Mark West reporting on the Buncombe County Commissioners meeting of last Tuesday. At that meeting, the Early Childhood Education Committee provided an annual update on the Early Childhood Education and Development Fund. This year $3.82 million is available in the fund. The committee reviewed grant applications and made recommendations on funding 35 community partner projects and 14 county department projects across Buncombe County. The commissioners also approved a budget amendment ordinance to carry forward unspent funds from fiscal year 2023 to 2024 totaling $4.9 million.
