This felt like a fitting chat to record as we approach the 25th anniversary of that event in the dystopian second administration of that reality tv boss Donny J Trump. In the chat we cover some of the topics in the book, like the legalistic and lingustic wrangling of subsequent administrations to expand US exceptionalism to international standards of war and human rights around captured prisoners, expansions of domestic spying and generally how the state of emergency created in 2001 has been used by Democrats and Republicans since to lay the ground work for the naked imperialism abroad and racially eliminationist policies in the US.
