Abby The Spoon Lady’s Final Asheville Performance As An Asheville Resident

As Asheville says goodbye to Abby the Spoon Lady, Abby & Chris Rodrigues will perform a benefit concert for 103.3 Asheville FM’s 10th Birthday Party. Together the two create a dynamic duo, with very complex rhythms. The VIP package includes seated admission to the show and a Meet and Greet with Abby at the Block off Biltmore at 6pm before the show. Proceeds from the concert will be donated to 103.3 Asheville FM, whose mission is to keep Asheville thriving by producing diverse and eclectic programming that inspires listeners to build connections across Asheville’s communities and to discover new music and ideas. Abby the Spoon Lady is one of very few professional spoon players in the United States, and has been a professional street performer for over a decade. Abby studied American folk percussion, music, and folklore while traveling the United States by foot and rail. Abby is a folk percussionist, storyteller, radio personality and free speech activist. She has a weekly radio show Busker Broadcast on 103.3 Asheville FM, can be seen in several TV shows, documentaries, and even within horror films.
Chris Rodrigues is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and busker from Asheville. Growing up learning traditional songs from his family, he has carved out his own unique blues- Appalachian style. At age 23 Chris began busking and now tours and plays in a variety of festivals, venues, and as a street performer. He plays the resophonic guitar, blows the harmonica, stomps on a suitcase with his right foot, taps on a license plate with his left foot and sings his takes on traditional songs as well as his own written material witch can be heard on several prime time television shows.
