State Park Ranger – an Appalachian grunge folk rock band that brings two layers of vintage southern/blues guitar, progressive lyrics, textured feedback and fresh drum sets.

State Park Ranger resides in the Blue Ridge mountains of Asheville, NC  –  Their music blends high energy grunge and sweet, deep folk…

The group was started by vocalist and guitarist Willow Rhinehart and guitarist Louden Campbell with aims to bring a new, proactive voice to the scene of local and folk music.

The Getaway River Bar – The Getaway is a laid-back bar with extra chill vibes by the river. With an expanse of outdoor seating and recreations set on the edge of the French Broad River, it welcomes everyone 21+ to loosen up and enjoy a getaway hidden in-between the city center and growing West Asheville.

Bhramari Brewing Company, located at 101 South Lexington Avenue in Asheville. They are a local craft brewery and restaurant featuring beers and food and are open seven days a week from 12pm to 9pm.  In house, pickup and delivery are available.  More info is at bhramari brewing dot com

Queer Calendar For March 9

Now it’s time for a round up of queer events happening in and around Asheville for the next week.

  • Kiki Thursday Drag Party, every Thursday night at 9pm at Asheville Beauty Academy.

  • Thursday March the 9th, Sarah Shook & The Disarmers with Sunny War at the Grey Eagle. Doors at 7, show at 8.

  • Friday, March 10th, starting at 5:30pm, Join Blue Ridge Pride at Banks Ave. Bar. for their first ever monthly social hour(s).

  • Also Friday the 10th, WHIPLASH: A full fetish drag experience, at The Getaway River Bar. Doors at 8, show at 9pm.

    -Saturday, March 11th, Youth Outright is holding a volunteer info session for those interested in learning more about the organization’s values, programs, roles in the community, and ways to get involved. Visit “youthoutright.org” to learn more.

    Also Saturday, March 11th, Served by Sev! Drag brunch brought to you by Emote and Different Wrld. Brunch by Truckin Delicious and is 11am to 5pm, and drag show is 1pm to 2:30pm. At Different Wrld. 

  • Party Foul drag show at The Odd every Saturday Night. Doors at 7, show at 8pm.

  • – This Sunday, March 12th, see Tina and Her Pony perform an album release show at the Grey Eagle. Doors at 6, show at 7.

    -Also Sunday, March 12th, Cornbread and Roses is hosting a cooking class and meal from 5 to 7pm. Check out “cornbreadroses.com” to learn more.

    – Every Tuesday it’s Trivia with a drag queen at Avl Beauty academy at 8pm, followed by karaoke at 10pm.

Todd Rundgren’s groundbreaking Progressive Pop, critically acclaimed fourth album, dropped to earth on March 2nd, 1973; and JD will celebrate by playing the entire record, without interruption, at 2 PM on Thursday, March 9th. Tune in to hear all 19 tracks, that blend together as a stream-of-consciousness experiment in psychedelic infused Pop, Rock, Soul and Show tunes… All written, engineered, produced and performed by Todd Rundgren. It was a radical departure for Todd, and paved the way for his Progressive Rock band, Utopia. Look for the 50th anniversary vinyl reissue next month on Record Store Day
