The Case of the Spokane 3 + Ontological Exhaustion

August 23, 2026 by bogoodness

This episode features two segments.

The Case of the Spokane 3

On June 11, 2025, there was a demonstration of hundreds of people in Spokane, Washington to defend two young asylum-seekers, Cesar Alexander Alvarez Perez and Joswar Slater Rodriguez Torres, who were kidnapped by ICE while appearing for a scheduled check-in. The next day, the Trump administration’s DOJ sent out a memo to all districts to prioritize prosecution of anti-ICE protestors and publicize the repression. Months later, 9 people were brought to Federal trial, with 6 of them taking a non-cooperating plea deal. The remaining 3,  refused to back down and were taken to trial and were convicted of conspiracy.  For this episode we’re joined by Hadley, a member of the Spokane 3 Support Committee to speak about those defendants ( Justice Forral, Bajun Mavalwalla II, and Jac Archer ), their case and struggle for justice.

Ontological Exhaustion

After that, you’ll hear an interview by audio comrades at Radio Ausbruch out of Frieberg, Germany, with an interview of Marina Christodoulou on her essay “TOWARD A GENEALOGY OF ONTOLOGICAL EXHAUSTION: becoming indignant-to-life ( ontological indignation ) before becoming exhausted-to-life ( ontological exhaustion )“. Check our shownotes for links to the original essay and more from Ausbruch, which is a fellow member of the A-Radio Network of anarchist and anti-authoritarian radios and podcasts.

Savannah Hatfield – Positive Vibes’ Early Morning Music Sessions – Tuesday, August 25th 2026 – streaming globally at www.ashevillefm.org

August 23, 2026 by DJ Smittymon

This week – join DJSmittymon  as he welcomes  “Savannah Hatfield” to the Positive Vibes’ Early Morning Music Sessions..  tune in this Tuesday starting around 9am –   We will be playing new music from and talking about Savannah’s new album Over and Under which just dropped in July.

MUSICAL GUEST:  Savannah Hatfield

Savannah Hatfield is an indie folk songbird, who weaves together intricate fingerpicking, restless lyricism, and hypnotic vocals to meet these strange times. Think late capitalistic existential dread with a hopeful cherry on top. She carefully crafts acoustic soundscapes by way of droning melodies, cathartic vocal builds, and slow, sweet resolve.

G20 Finance Track in Asheville + Prosfygika

August 16, 2026 by bogoodness

This week’s episode features two segments.

G20 Finance Track in Asheville this month

First up, you’ll hear Jeremy and Sea speak about the upcoming G20 Financial Track gathering of Finance Ministers and Central Bankers happening in Asheville at the end of August this year. We speak about the G20, neoliberalism, and some of the organizing happening locally. More info available at G20AVL.NoBlogs.Org

Squatted Neighborhood of Prosfygika

Then you’ll hear a segment form the June 2026 episode #103 of B(A)D News: Angry Voices from Around The World by the A-Radio Network. In this audio, members of Crna Luknja from Ljubljana, Slovenia, speak with participants in the autonomous, squatted neighborhood of Athens, Prosfygika, a name which translates to Refugee. The audio was recorded on May 28th , so likely the situation has shifted and you can find more information and updates at SaveProsfygika.GR/index.php/en/ for English. According to a statement from June 24th found on that website, the hunger strikes of Aristotelis Chantzis and Suzon Doppagne were suspended following municipal statements in line with movement demands. Check the Materials page for statements, photos, audios and documentaries from and about the community.

MUSICAL GUEST:  The Æther Project

For over a decade, Asheville’s The Æther Project has practiced long-form free improvisation, guided by deep listening, serious play, and utter openness to the experience of each moment. Anchored by vocalist Scott Voloshin’s stream of consciousness, this confederation of sonic explorers weaves a mycelial network of cellists, keyboardists, saxophonists, effects-laden guitarists, found sound artists, and percussionists into an ever-shifting psychedelic mélange. Although primarily a recording project, the group has made occasional live appearances at the Asheville Fringe Festival, Asheville Improv Festival, The Odd, and The Sly Grog.

Discussion on Organizing Against Surveillance in the US South

August 9, 2026 by bogoodness

This week, you’ll hear a discussion with Ed from Southerners Against Surveillance Systems and Infrastructure / DeFlock, Ben of Communities Against Mass Surveillance in Asheville and Kelly from Nashville Community Safety Network others who share more about their local organizing to counter the nationwide push for interconnected surveillance networks. The push for increasingly more data on the public and the funneling of that information into police fusion centers has been most visible recently in struggles against Flock. We speak about spy cameras, the connections between private companies and the state surveillance apparatus, local organizing tactics and more.
