Time to Wake Your Brass Up!! Happening Tuesday September 20th – 8-10am..
Ersel “Garfield” Bogan III, veteran brass band trombonist. He is one of the original members of The Stooges Brass Band, where he spent 20 years of his musical career. Garfield also is an original member of the Free Agents Brass Band which is a brass band created after hurricane Katrina. Ersel established the nonprofit, the Save Our Brass Culture Foundation in 2019 and is a teaching artist with Leaf Global Arts
Save Our Brass Culture Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization formed by New Orleans brass band members. This organization was formed to protect and serve the culture while defending its rights, creating unity, and advocating for its members.
Since 2019, there has been increasing support for and enjoyment at Brass Fest. Offering a great place for friends and family come get together and have a fun time.
Each year the Save our Brass Foundation features the best and brightest brass bands in New Orleans on stage for a festival celebrating music, community, food, and the Crescent City.

Yes released the greatest Progressive Rock album of all time, on September 13, 1972 via Atlantic Records. ‘Close to the Edge’ is three songs long, the title track taking up the entirety of side one. Many live performances, re-releases, remixes, remasters and reissues later, it is still at the top of the heap, an iconic and influential 70’s progressive rock album, with themes and lyrics inspired by the Herman Hesse novel Siddhartha. Many modern Prog bands and artists site this album as a profound inspiration. Jon Anderson, Steve Howe, Rick Wakeman, Bill Bruford and Chris Squire, spent five months in recording sessions they later described as “climbing Mount Everest”. The album’s centerpiece is the 18+ minute, four part epic, Close to the Edge. JD will play the definitive Steven Wilson remix of this song, on Thursday at 2 PM, on 103.3 Asheville FM and our new APP!!! This fall, Yes kicks off the Close to the Edge 50th Anniversary Tour in the United States, playing the album in it’s entirety, along with other Yes classics.
