Just Economics WNC: a local nonprofit working to educate and advocate and organize for a more just and sustainable local economy

Just Economics WNC has been working in the region for a little over a decade to address societal injustice, including living wage, affordable housing and better transit. They strive to advance workers’ rights and the systems that help to create a better economic community, as well as, supporting those affected by injustice. Courtney Garcia spoke with the director of Just Economics, Vicki Meath, about how their work has evolved and expanded.

Sunrise Asheville is a national youth movement working to create a more just society and combat climate change. Through the Green New Deal, the movement has been working to create more green jobs while transforming the economy in the process. The movement has also been involved with investing in systems that heal us and divesting from systems, including defunding the police. Maia Ross Trupin one of two hub coordinators with Sunrise Asheville talks to Courtney Garcia more about the movements integrative efforts in Asheville.
