Queer Calendar Week of Jan. 22

  • It’s Thursday – and you can Join Jerri & Christopher every Thursday @6pm for country music, line dancing, and beginner 2 step! At Banks Ave Bar for Butts and Boots every Thursday* No Partner needed Also on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month
  • THis Friday, there will be a noise demo at 5 PM against Hilton hotel’s collaboration with ICE and in solidarity with the Minneapolis general strike. Say no to collaboration with deportation, and make some noise for the resistance in Minneapolis! This friday, 5 pm, at pritchard park in downtown asheville.
  • Thursday, January 22 Silent Films: Loud Music at Sly Gog Lounge. Support local filmmakers, musicians, and raise money for queer youth. Silent Films/Loud Music is a screening of short films with live musical scores performed by local bands.
  • This Friday, January 23rd, Sapphic Night at DAytrip , starting at 8 PM! Come celebrate 2 years of community! Food by hail mary and tunes by neptune spins
  • Saturday, January 24 from 10 pm to 2 am. Gaytona Music at DayTrip (Broadway St, Asheville). Music by DJ Tamagotchi and DJ Good Sweat. Drag by Dix West and Indica Gemini. Food by Hail Mary. $5 cover.
  • This Sunday was supposed to be a Beer City Bears social at Shkeys, but organizers have canceled due to weather. Again no bear social this Sunday.

Dine with Divas returns to the Highland Brewing Event Center Asheville’s only drag celebrity impersonator dinner show is back—and it’s serving legendary music icons with a side of sequins with a decadent catered dinner by Celine and Company, all while benefiting Beloved Asheville.   • Saturday, January 31 LGBTQ+ Women Meetup with live Play4kay Basketball Game Viewing at 2 pm at Kimmel Arena on UNCA’s campus. Join Q-Hall for a community meetup and section takeover at the Play4Kay women’s college basketball at UNC Asheville. This is a low-pressure, come-as-you-are gathering focused on showing up for women’s sports, women’s health, and local teams in an LGBTQ+ affirming space.

  • Sunday Feb 15th, Downtown Asheville will burst into color, rhythm, and revelry as the Mardi Gras Parade rolls through the South Slope beginning promptly at 3:05 p.m. When the last float passes, the party continues with “The Queen’s Ball,” the official after-party held immediately following the parade at the Wicked Weed Funkatorium. Guests can expect music, dancing, and royal-worthy festivities to close out the day in true Mardi Gras fashion.
  • Saturday, February 21 Trash Talk Queer Dance Party and Drag Show at 10 pm. Queer dance party with music by DJ Abu Disarray. Drag shows hosted by Calcutta and Reptilian Anderson.
  • Queens of comedy take center stage at Katarina’s Saturday Cabaret Drag Brunch on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Banks Ave. Bar. with shows at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. This drag brunch leans hard into comedy, delivering sharp punchlines and eight laugh-out-loud performances from Asheville’s funniest queens.   • This comedy-driven drag brunch spotlights Asheville’s boldest humor and sharpest timing.   • Thursday, April 9 Bertha; Grateful Drag at 8 pm at Grey Eagle. Tickets are $29.29 and the show is for everyone!. The world’s first Grateful Drag band, BERTHA is an all-start collective of queer and allied East Nashville talent coming together in wigs and full face for a good cause. BERTHA has captured the heart and imagination of Deadheads everywhere, with coast-to-coast demand for their electrifying live show. Whether collaborating with local drag queens in Mexico, or playing the most prestigious festival lineups in the States, BERTHA: Grateful Drag has only begun to make her impact on the world.   • Drag performer and finalist on Season 3 of The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula, Dragula: Resurrection, and Dragula Titans 2! Priscilla Chambers is the host and creator of Party Foul, a drag show that lights up the Odditorium stage every Saturday night.   • Saturday, May 30 Mark your calendars for LEAF Love at Pisgah Brewing Company for a day of Deep Roots. Pisgah opened their doors to LEAF back in 2024 when they had to cancel the festival because of Hurricane HElene and they had a magical day of community and they can’t wait to do it again. Michelle Moog interview plus Progressive music featuring various Moog instruments!

Professor Ted welcomes Moogseum and Bob Moog Foundation executive director, and daughter of the late Bob Moog, on Thursday, November 13th from 1-3 PM. Hear his discussion with Michelle Moog-Kousa about the rare Minimoog Prototype Exhibit at the Moogseum in downtown Asheville this weekend, November 14-16, in conjunction with the Museum of Music Technology. These prototypes were created in 1969-1971, and tell the fascinating story of the evolution of one of the most important synths ever invented. More info here: Moogseum
