The Beatles Pop-up returns!

JD and Joey Books return with another Beatles Pop-up on Sunday, December 5th at 9 AM. Tune in to The Sandbox Hour for another hour of Beatles tunes! This show will feature tracks from new releases and reissues by the Fab Four. In the past year, both Paul and Ringo have dropped records and the estates of George and John have reissued their first solo albums. Also, Let It Be has been reissued with tons of extras. Recent Supreme Court Decisions Offer Optimism For LGBTQ Equality

The Supreme Court refused to hear a case this week involving a Transgender Man who sued his High School for denying him the ability to use the Men’s locker room.  This decision and an decision on LGBTQ adoptions made recent headlines this month.  To help understand what the decisions mean for LGBTQ folks here in Western North Carolina – News Team correspondent KP Whaley spoke to Adam Polaski of the Campaign for Southern Equality about the news.

Good Jobs For All teach-in hosted by the Sunrise Movement

On June 5 at 3:00 pm, Sunrise Asheville will be hosting a Good Jobs For All teach-in to discuss the Green New Deal and the national relaunching of the Civilian Conservation Corps. Join them at the Burton St. Peace Gardens tomorrow to find out how a jobs program could benefit our community and what you can do to combat the climate crisis, systemic racism and economic inequality. The event will include a community-building visioning session that will ground participants in the rich history of the demand for a federal job guarantee, the opportunity in this political moment, and the unique role our movement has to play.

Partner speakers include DeWayne Barton from Hood Huggers, the Racial Justice Coalition, Raise Up NC and city council member, Kim Roney.

This event is intended to be accessible for all ages– so come along and invite your friends, community, and neighbors! Food, music, crafts and more will be provided!
