First Radio Show

July 13, 2025 by Blake

Hello! My name is Blake and I am very honored and thrilled to become a regular DJ on Asheville FM! The Gilded Cauldron is a free form radio show, meaning you will hear a variety of genres. You will always hear international music, especially Indian or Indian inspired songs. You will also hear folk, classic country, avant-garde, jazz, blues, and more!

Aside from training and substituting for other DJs, this will be my first time officially having a radio show and I am beyond excited! I hope you find something that interests you, catalyzes creativity, or allows you to bask in something familiar. I play mostly records from my collection, though sometimes I will use other formats as well. I tend to focus on music that is acoustic, strange, traditional, and/or music from outside of the U.S., but you will hear a variety of music that I consider great.

Christian Nationalism, Apocalyptic Visions + Child Welfare (with Talia Lavin)

June 29, 2025 by bogoodness

This week, we’re sharing an interview with Talia Lavin, author of Culture Warlords: My Journey into the Dark Web of White Supremacy. In this chat, we speak about her more recent book, Wild Faith: How the Christian Right is Taking Over America. There’s a lot in the book, most of it pretty disturbing (especially, I’m sure, for anyone who is ex-vangelical) and there is discussion of hateful ideology and child abuse and corporal punishment, though not in lurid detail, so listener discretion is advised. We hope to cover related topics in the future.

To hear an extended version of the interview, check out the podcast at our website.

First up, A-Radio Berlin shared a conversation about the political motivated arrests and harassment of members of the Labor Desk Confederation of Trade Unions in Azerbaijan, which is calling for international solidarity.

The Labor Desk Confederation of Trade Unions in Azerbaijan is calling for international solidarity following the politically motivated arrests of its chairman Afiaddin Mammadov and fellow unionists Aykhan Israfilov, Elvin Mustafayev, and Mohyaddin Orujov. These arrests are part of a systematic crackdown on independent labor organizing in Azerbaijan..
