On July 10th at 7pm, join your friends & neighbors, down in the RAD, at The Grail Moviehouse, for an entertaining evening with Asheville author and music journalist Bill Kopp and the Monkees! The famous 1968 movie ‘HEAD’ is a satirical musical adventure film written and produced by Jack Nicholson and Bob Rafelson, directed by Rafelson, and starring television rock group the Monkees (Davy Jones, Peter Tork, Micky Dolenz and Michael Nesmith). It is a theatrical spin-off of the 1966–68 NBC television show and a swan song.
Shortly after their TV show closed its final curtain, the Monkees took to the big screen in this mind-bending experiment in pop art. Proudly without plot, this feature follows the band on a trippy adventure through 1960s Hollywood, where they cross paths with such people as Dennis Hopper, Frank Zappa and Jack Nicholson. In a variety of vignettes and musical performances, the daffy antics of the band are on full display. 86 min. Sponsored by Asheville FM. Get tickets here: TRAILER
